Ron Wolswijk is the executive director for Solstice Senior Living at Normandy Park. Born and raised in the Netherlands, Ron started his work career there after graduating with a business and administration degree. He initially worked in the family-run auto-tire shop, but quickly changed his focus toward jobs in the financial and service industry. For several years, his experience and leadership skills were shaped by jobs in sales, customer service, business development and management.
After meeting his wife in Costa Rica, he relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2001. He worked as a direct insurance agent at a local insurer and operated an independent insurance agency for 13 years. After many years in the financial industry, he discovered a passion for working with seniors. He began serving the elderly population at the assisted living and memory care community Queen Anne Manor in July 2019 before making the transition to Solstice at Normandy Park.
In his spare time, Ron enjoys watching, playing and coaching soccer games, eating out, and going on vacation with his wife and two teenage sons. He is an avid fan of all Seattle sports teams, but most especially the Seattle Sounders and Seahawks.
Director of Sales and Marketing
Dave Markwell is the director of Sales and Marketing for Solstice Senior Living at Normandy Park. Prior to joining the team, he spent 22 years self-employed in the real estate business, was a CrossFit gym coach and owner, and started and operated a community arcade in his hometown of Des Moines, Washington. Tying the strings together from an eclectic work history is Dave's passion for people. Helping folks have better days and lives has been a constant driver in every venture and adventure for Dave.
Away from work, Dave likes to putter in the yard, read a good book, and spend time with family and friends, ideally by a body of water.
Director of Sales and Marketing
Sam Pabon is a former athlete and Chicago native who followed her heart to Seattle in 2015. After several years as a cosmetic business manager with Nordstrom, Sam joined the Solstice team as the Vibrant Life® director in 2018. After only a few months on the job, Sam had created such a thriving activities program she was offered the position of Sales and Marketing director, which she has held since August of 2019. Outside of work, Sam enjoys spending time with Marshall and their two children, yoga classes at the gym, finding a new restaurant, and watching her favorite sports teams.
Business Office Director
After working many years as a bookkeeper, Moriah Cabral joined an Everett senior living community as an office manager. With a desire for a shorter commute from her home in Burien and more family time, Moriah made the switch to our Solstice community. Away from the office, she enjoys spending time outdoors, especially camping with the rest of her family.
Culinary Services Director
Chef Vic Jones has been preparing meals and leading kitchen and dining staff in senior living communities for over 20 years. In 2018, he joined Normandy Park full time as the Culinary Services director. He formerly worked as a “floater” chef for Holiday Retirement and on more than one occasion assisted at Normandy Park providing support to the team. Vic prides himself on preparing healthy meals from scratch – baking fresh bread and preparing homemade soups and sauces for the residents. Vic and his family live in the Puyallup area.
